The 184.5 mile long canal was built between 1828
and 1850 and stretches from Georgetown to Cumberland,
MD.In 1971 the canal became a Historic Park. Today,
the canal's towpath is a favorite of hikers, joggers
and bikers.

Ridge State Forest
Green Ridge is the second largest of Maryland's
State Forests consisting of a 44,000 acre oak-hickory
forest. It is located in eastern Allegany County,
approximately eight miles east of Flintstone on
I-68 at exit 64.

of public land for guests to enjoy.
Rugged mountains surround the park which features
243-acre Lake Habeeb. The lake is fed by Rocky
Gap Run.
Savage River State Forest,
MD
40 miles away from the property
Savage River State Forest, at over 54,000 acres,
is the largest facility in the state forest and
park system. Trail maps are available at the park
office, for all trails, including the 10 miles
of cross country ski trails. The forest is classified
as a northern hardwood forest. More than 12,000
acres of the forest has been designated as Wild
lands.
